For the one who cooks the Sunday roast: the juice groove board
The groove catches the juices from the meat, the table stays clean. It is the board for big gatherings and family meals, with or without a catch tray.
Christmas at the workshop
Looking for a gift for someone who loves cooking, entertaining, or simply beautiful things? Here are eight ideas chosen from the workshop's shop, in Alsace: end-grain cutting boards, folding knives, the workshop balm.
A gift to keep
The best kitchen gifts are the ones you never buy for yourself, and then use every day. A handmade wooden cutting board is one of them: in end grain, it is kind to knives, takes on a patina over time and lasts for years.
All the boards come out of my workshop in Dambach-la-Ville. They combine beech, ash, cherry, maple, hornbeam and black walnut, wood from French forests: no two are alike. The piece shown for each idea is available today; if it sells, another of the same type takes its place.
The selection
Sorted by use, from the big Sunday board to the small gift that goes with it.
The groove catches the juices from the meat, the table stays clean. It is the board for big gatherings and family meals, with or without a catch tray.
The everyday format, about 40 cm, steady on the worktop: vegetables, meat, bread. The gift that gets used the very next day.
Long and narrow, it runs across the table at aperitif time, laden with charcuterie, cheeses or crunchy vegetables.
Pick it up with one hand, set it down in the middle of the table: for the morning bread, the evening cheese. It is easy to put away.
A free-form shape, made to be passed around the table. It is as good for cutting as for presenting.
A traditional Alsatian pocket knife, 8 cm blade, handle shaped by hand. For picnics, the market or the kitchen.
The same Alsatian knife, with a corkscrew: the gift for the one who always opens the bottle.
Organic plant oils and beeswax, nothing industrial: everything needed to feed a wooden board and keep it beautiful. The perfect companion to a board given as a gift.
Personalisation
Each board can be fitted with an engraved plaque, fixed to the edge: a first name, a wedding date, “Grandma's table”. You enter the text on the board's product page when you order; allow a few extra days for the engraving.
This is what turns a beautiful board into a personalised gift: from then on, it belongs to one person only.
Budgets
Each product page shows the exact price of the piece. As every board is unique, the selection changes as pieces are sold.
